In 2014 the Olympic Winter Games take place in Russia – in the Black Sea resort of Sochi and its nearby mountain regions. Prime Minister Putin has declared the Games top priority and is determined to make the prestige-project happen. A lot of Austrian know-how is needed, a reason why many Austrian companies are involved in the Olympic Games.

The film will be a long-term observation about the inhabitants of a mountain-village in the Krasnaja Poljana, where a number of Olympic sites for the alpine competitions are to be built. Yet, most important, the film not only looks at small town life but also at the employees of Austrian companies being confronted with a challenging clash of cultures.

By following the personal destinies of the village’s inhabitants and of the Austrians working there for a period of five to six years, we will follow these individuals’ choices, their actions and how it affects their lives.
